In the Fall of 2000, Steven moved to Abilene, TX to attend college at Hardin Simmons University. From there, he teamed up with Jeff Berry traveling and leading worship across the country. In 2002, Steven began co-leading a collegiate bible study in town called Grace. With over a thousand students in attendance each week, Steven formed a band to go along side him and his soon to be wife Rachel. Steven always loved to write his own personal worship songs and soon began to incorporate those into the places he would lead. Soon the band began to travel, and released their début album, "desperate for real," in October of 2005. Branch¹s newest release ³The Side Effects of Seeing,² released in September 07. The band has spent the last 3 years traveling throughout the country playing at various Youth Camps, Conferences, Retreats, Church services, and festivals.
The Heart of Branch:
In the things we write/sing and the way we live, we want to point others to
the God who gives life and changes lives. Daniel 12:3 says, ³those who
are wise will shine like the brightness of the heavens, those who lead others
to righteousness, like stars forever and ever.² That¹s the kind of
³stars² Branch wants to be. We aren¹t interested in being a bunch
of ³entertainers,² we want to be a band who points people to Jesus.
We believe that worship is about enjoying, adoring, living for and pointing
attention to the Lord. We believe being "worship leaders" is a style
of life and is much bigger than singing songs! We want to build relationships
with our audiences and fulfill God's call in scripture to Love God and love
people! We don't see ourselves as musicians, but rather ministers who use music
for the glory of God! Far be it for us to only be seen and known from the stage.
If we are coming to your church, camp, retreat, or conference you can know that
we will reach out and be seen! Our purpose statement as a band is summed up
in this sentence: to creatively and effectively lead others into the presence
of God where they can respond to God and be changed into His likness. That's
our heart...
